Enfinity Completes 4 Solar Plants On Land In Spain

The plants were constructed by the Iberian company Martifer Solar

Villarobledo, Spain – 21 October 2008. Enfinity Management has completed and inaugurated 4 solar plants on land in Spain. These plants are the first photovoltaic projects realized by Enfinity on land. They will produce nearly 6,5 MW, enough energy to meet the needs of 3,690 homes of 4 members per year, and will prevent the emission of more than 12,000 T. of CO2.

All 4 plants are situated in Southern Spain, namely Villarobledo and Peñas de San Pedro (Albacete), El Robledo (Ciudad Real) and Alcolea del Río (Sevilla). All 4 plants have been completed between April and September 2008. For the construction of these plants Enfinity worked together with Martifer Solar, a rapidly growing Iberian company that has recently been introduced onto the stock exchange and which is specializing in renewable energy and EPC contracting.

Martifer Solar was in charge of the engineering and installation of the plants. The Iberian company made a big effort to finish the plants in a short period of time as Enfinity required. Both companies have cooperated to guarantee that the installations are of a high quality, which will result in high profits in energy terms.
Enfinity also succeeded to officially register the 4 plants before September 28th, a deadline set by the Spanish Government. All photovoltaic plants on land in Spain registered before that date can benefit from a high subsidy rate. During a period of 25 years Enfinity will be receiving an incentive of 0.44 €/KWh for the produced electrical energy, equal to approx. 9.7 GWh per year.

For the moment there is a substantial boom on the Spanish photovoltaic market with solar plants being constructed at a very high pace. As a result of this increase in activity on land there has been a growing interest in rooftop installations as well. Enfinity will be seizing this opportunity to export its experience with rooftop installations in Belgium towards the Spanish market.
