Eneco expands with acquisition of Enfinity solar power installations in Belgium

With this acquisition, Eneco expands its solar power installation capacity by 5 MegaWatt. The installations are installed on the roofs of industrial companies in Flanders. Following the acquisition, the partnership will continue under a new name; Eneco Solar Vlaanderen 4.

At the end of 2010, Eneco already acquired the shares of the project partnership Enfinity 3 CVBA, with a similar solar panel capacity of approximately 5 MegaWatt. This partnership was also renamed after its new owner; Eneco Solar Vlaanderen 3.

Including the expansion resulting from the acquisitions of Eneco Solar Vlaanderen 3 and Eneco Solar Vlaanderen 4, the Eneco business unit Solar, Bio & Hydro has a total installed photovoltaiccapacity of approximately 15 MegaWatt. Most of the electricity generated by the systems is supplied directly to the electricity circuits of the buildings on which they are installed and contributes to improving the sustainability of the generally energy-intensive processes of the companies that own the roofs. Surplus electricity is supplied to the electricity grid.

The transfer is in line with Enfinity's strategy to sell part of the solar power projects it develops. Apart from the sale of solar energy projects, Enfinity owns solar power installations with a total capacity of more than
50 MegaWatt through its business unit Enfinity Power that form a recurring, stable source of income.
For the next twenty years, Enfinity will guarantee the management, monitoring and maintenance of all the solar power installations that Eneco acquired as part of the acquisition of the two project partnerships.
